Bio:

Aidan Coran was a force-sensitive male farmer turned-militiaman during the early stages of the Clone Wars. Born in 38 BBY to his father, Aaron, and an unknown mother, Aidan lived his early life unaware of his force legacy, or that he was to be visited by a force vision that would alter the course of his life.

The oldest child of two, Aidan’s mother left before his third birthday; his only memory of her was a gold chain she had placed on him before leaving in the night. He could never recall any memories of her face or even voice. He grew up on an isolated moisture farm on the dune sea, where his father instilled in him a sense of responsibility and a strong core of values. He shot his first womp rat at the age of 4, and repaired his first speeder at 5.

His first interest in the outside world began at the age of 6, when the Naboo Crisis was the talk of the galaxy. He studied every holo, and from there developed a love of military history and tactics. Aidan also found himself fixated by the story of Anakin Skywalker: the child from Tatooine who had played a pivotal part in the Blockade of Naboo. He would dream of a life of heroism, and spent endless hours practicing with his blasters and watching numerous holos on the plethora of galactic wars and it’s pantheon of heroes and heroines.

By age 13, he had joined a company of caravan guards and taken part in the defense neighboring farms against the Tusken Raiders. He became fast friends with Owen Lars and Huff Darklighter, and the trio were soon infamous around Tosche Station for their pranks and practical jokes.

Aidan never forgot his dreams from his youth, though, and when the Clone Wars erupted he made for the Republic Armed Forces recruitment station as soon as he had the chance. Despite protests from his family, especially his younger sister, and the pleas of his friends, within weeks he was on a battered transport en route to Rodia. The Siege of Equator City was a minor battle in the strategic sense, but was still considered a pivotal victory on the Republic holonews. It was also the start of a new chapter in the young soldier’s life.

After initial skirmishes outside the city, Aidan found himself the only survivor of the militia from Tatooine. As the days passed, and the Droid armies continued to press towards the center, Aidan took a more commanding role in the conflict, even commanding a platoon of Republic forces in a breach defense. He would be remembered by survivors for evacuating wounded, making numerous stands against overwhelming numbers to allow his compatriots chances to escape, and his prowess in guerrilla tactics against the rigid droid formations. His ability as a field medic also ensured the survival of several of the defenders. The actions of Aidan also captured the attention of Rinn Tarpil, a member of the Jedi Strike team sent to end the attack on Rodia.

Aidan was permanently changed from the experience on Rodia. His childhood fantasies of heroism were smashed by the harsh realities of the war-zone; images of invulnerability replaced with the screams of the dying and the smells of blaster-cooked ozone and blood. The Jedi counterattack that turned the tide of the siege also had a major impact on the young Aidan. The holos and stories did not compare to a Jedi in action: he felt like a mortal in the presence of gods. The event left him both humbled and envious; and he was awed when one of the Jedi Generals nodded to him, treating him with dignity and a measure of respect. When Jedi Knight Tarpil entreated him to accompany the entourage to Coruscant he accepted without a second thought.

It was at the Jedi Temple that he was told of his latent ability with the force: that his unconscious drawing of it had preserved his life even when confronted with daunting odds. Tarpil also shared with him that he was defying the ruling of the Council by training him. Aidan tackled his Jedi training with gusto; learning in months what took many years to harness. Rinn was extremely pleased with his padawan, but was also quick to caution Aidan of controlling his ego and being wary of pride. Aidan would always meditate on his humble beginnings when he desired to center himself.

It was towards the end of his time on Coruscant when the force visited Aidan with a vision of another reality: one where he fell to the dark side. The pain he felt was real, as he slowly turned his back on his friends, his morals, and his oaths. He screamed and screamed as he watched himself kill his lover and mother of his child. He watched in horror as he slaughtered thousands with his own hands. The last fleeting image before being torn awake was the eyes of his old friend, Tychono Ranthor: his eyes filled with hate as he charged.

The grief that Aidan poured into the force was such that it roused the entire Order, and touched the senses of many Jedi across the galaxy. Rinn Tarpil arrived in his apprentice’s room in time to rip the lightsaber from his grasp: Aidan has placed the emitter against his throat. Coran spent several days in his master’s care, unable to speak and completely drawn into the force.
