Visions in the Force
Deceased : Human Jedi Knight, first master to Ty
Drex was a man of few words. He chose Ty for a Padawan as a calculated risk. He had seen other Padawans (namely Anakin Skywalker) picked up at ages deemed “too old” and saw their potential to be powerful Jedi. Tycano Ranthor was not as old as Skywalker when chosen, but it was his last shot before he would be integrated into one of the Service Corps. Ty proved to be a capable, if headstrong, student.
When warned by his Padawan of the peril the Jedi would face at Geonosis, he dismissed it as the imagination of a young learner; although, the idea that the Padawan may be correct chilled him to the core. Instead of altering the council to his Padawan’s claims of a vision from the Force, Drex foocused on his mission at hand; to stabilize the situation at Rodia. He thought that it was overkill to send three qualified Knights, even if one happened to be the reclusive Rinn Tarpil, but figured it would be a good learning experience in negotiations for his and Knight Fon Kluu’s apprentices.
Upon arrival to Rodia; Drex, Kluu, and the Padawans boarded the droid control ship in their shuttle while Tarpil took his fighter planetside. The group of Jedi were led through the ship and to a conference room holding a tall figure, staring out at the stars and occasionally emitting a tinny cough. Drex entered the conference room first and was cut off from the rest when the blast door slammed shut behind him, locking him in with the tall, coughing, being. He could not control his feelings when the being whirled on him, igniting four lightsabers. He had the presence of mind to send a short, telepathic warning to his learner, “run!”. Onasi was able to fend off his attacker’s inexperienced blows for several minutes, but his defenses were eventually worn down under the ferocious attacks.
The others felt his death in the force as they searched the ship, destroying the long-range controllers for the droids on Rodia.
